Nanotechnology
The
nanotechnology revolution is being driven by the creation of microelectromechanical systems. These devices will result in a revolution in the sensing technologies. Very tiny, very inexpensive sensory tools will enable miniature robots to infiltrate our culture in ways we cannot yet fathom. These tools hold tremendous promise. They might be the final key to making navigational devices small enough and inexpensive enough to make them non-obtrusive and ubiquitous.
The nanotechnology revolution is taking the notion of "
Things that think" to a new level. Most often when we consider the evolution of thinking systems, we envision computers. In this age of smart machines, we can see that cars, toasters, and even clothes are getting smarter. Nanotechnology technology is making materials intelligent. My favorite is smart dust particles.

Then your shoes did blink
Soon, your shoes will think
